Why butterfly valves are chosen in different applications?

by | May 30, 2018 | Science and Technology

These valves are similar to ball valve when it comes to operations. The only difference is that they are light in weight, easy to maintain and deal with plus less on the cost side.

Standard types of butterfly valves include concentric, doubly eccentric and triply eccentric valves. They are chosen according to varying pressures and usage. For higher pressures, triply eccentric is the chosen one.

Different types of butterfly valves that Richter offers are: Shut-off and control butterfly valves, PFA/PTFE-lined, sandwich, lug-style and double-flange designs

The typical applications where butterfly valves are used frequently are pharma, chemical and food. The valves are manufactured as per cGMP guidelines before they are chosen for such crucial applications. The most major advantage of these type of valves is that they regulate fluid flow very well. They can be beneficial for regulating flow by adjusting the lever and keeping a close eye on the desired output flow.

Other applications wherein they are used widely are:

  • Firefighting
  • Apparatus for domestic purpose
  • Ships
  • Slurry applications
  • High pressure steam applications
  • Vacuum, compressed air/gas

These valves are preferred for large volume of water applications.

Richter’s valves excel in robust design and long service life. Linings used are PFA, PTFE and PFA-L (antistatic). We manufacture certified series in compliance with German Clean Act and with FDA.
